More Tux, and Guitar Hero

M1stque over on Flickr created a Tux cake for her partner:


She states: "He collects penguins and he's a big Linux-fan, so I didn't have to think hard on what I should make him ;)"

And a mighty fine Tux cake it is too!

This miniature 'axe was a random Google find.

If you have any information on it's creation I would love to hear from you, faintdreams[at]gmail[dot]com I like to think it's got liquorice in there somewhere to achieve all that black, but I have no idea.

Tux!

Linux is a free computer operating system that comes in many different flavours know as 'Distributions'.

Each Distribution has it's own logo / mascot, but Tux seems to be the default international cross-distribution Penguin mascot for Linux fans everywhere.

A Google image search for 'Linux Tux' gives more than 210,00 results, and shows the smiling (smirking?) Penguin in a many many guises.

Joseph Hall created a very impressive 3d rendition of Tux as a cake, and gives detailed step by step instructions for you to make your own. (All ten steps! From Step 1 - baking the base, to Step 10 - storage and transportation.)

He's almost too cute to cut into isn't he?

Transformers... cakes are in disguise

Over at Technabob", a wonderfully crafted Transformer cake is showcased. Created for an incredibly lucky 5 year old boy called Evan, This Transformer cake features a very detailed sugar icing rendition of Optimus Prime.

Unfortunately I don't have nay details of construction or ingredients. I'd like to think it's Vam and Victoria Sponge underneath (in keeping with the red theme), but I guess I shall never know !

[Original] Trek Cake to end them all...?

In May of this year the very passionate team over at Ace of Cakes, have created the (original series) Trek cake that bests all other Trek cakes everywhere. A fondant icing laden mini work of art.

Could this be the Chocolatiest Dalek in the world?

Over at Chocoblog, the small (but perfectly formed team of Chocoholics) give you step by step instructions on how to create - arguably- The Chocolatiest Dalek in the world.



Now I don't know about you, but this creation involves too much chocolate for me ! More detailed close-ups below.

I know, it's almost unbelievable that I should even write the phrase 'too much chocolate', but seriously, - it is.

W.O.W. , and a trio of superheroes..,

Over at the 'Great White Snark' blog, the marvelous baking talents of Kathryn (from New Zealand), are shown off and explained in detail. Her trio of comic superheroes cakes and cupcakes are pictured below:

Made with vanilla bean and yogurt cake features layers of berry filling and buttercream, and fondant detailing. Sounds Delish. Weighted Companion Cube, Edible Elder Gods, and Pi !

Jennyvier over at Flickr, got inventive with cookie dough and baked these delicious looking 'Weighted Companion Cube' cookies from the game 'Portal'.

The dough was apparently leftover from making Battlestar Galactica Cylon cookies. Is there no end to this woman's Geekcake genius?

Richard Crawford's Wife used I'm-not-sure-what-ingenuity to create this fiercesomely cute Cthulu cake for his 40th Birthday.

Richard describes it's complicated construction:

"She used a teddy bear cake pan as the basis. The wings are Styrofoam. The tentacles are marshmallows. And in addition to being the coolest cake ever, by the coolest wife ever, it was absolutely delicious."

If Cthulu were ever to wake from slumber, I hope it's in an edible cake form!
